Came in for lunch break. I got the #5 combo- 1/4 chicken 1/4 Tri-tip. The chicken was nice and juicy. Charred just a touch on the outside. Perfection. Tri-tip had a very nice seasoning on it. Perfect with the salsa included. The last piece of Tri-tip was soaking in the chicken juices and was the best on the plate. I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it I spent $17. Virtually no wait. Plate arrived so quick. Perfect for lunch break. No picture. I ate it quickly. Go somewhere else for pictures

I come here when I am craving chicken. I love it. It is the best better than Pollo Loco. Especially for the price you can beat it. They have a perfect family meal that comes with everything they are fast and the service has always been great.

I do not really know if this is at all related to the major El Pollo chain. Completely different menu and a one of a kind small restaurant. Very old school built in late 1940's my guess. Been here twice. They have Tri-Tip which i personally didn't care for. Dry, chewy and over salted. The chicken bowl was ok, dry chicken breast a drizzle of sour cream with rice and beans. Major complaint is they charge for chips, only have one salsa, red mild. No green avocado like the chain. My second visit ordered the #2 half chicken meal. Chicken wasn't freshly made but still decent. The price , decent quality as portions are the reason to go here. That and the service was good. Doubt I'll be going back real soon. Think I'll stick with the chain instead. 4 stars and I'm being generous. Cheap decent food, price of a McDonald's meal but lot healthier.

We drive about 100 round trip to eat at El Pollo Norteno in Oxnard, California. I get the dark meat chicken and bbq tri tip which is especially smoky and tasty. They've always gotten my order right. We also order the mixto burrito which combines chicken and tri tip. I only wish they would offer plain chargrilled corn on the cob for $2...Mexican style for $3. They could have a big cooker outside and finish grill it inside. Oxnard used to grow a lot of corn but it hasn't in several years. It has to be tender not old horse corn
